This half term year 8 are undertaking a unit of work about the History of Computing and ICT. For today’s task they had to research four British ICT Pioneers and nominate them to feature on British bank notes. They had to suggest someone to appear on the £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes and provide a brief description to support their nomination. The children were reminded that ICT is more than just computers and as a result John Logie Baird and Alexander Graham Bell both got a couple of nominations. The four names that received the most nominations were Tommy Flowers, Ada Lovelace, Alan Turing and Charles Babbage.
