Scribbling Books

“Babbage brought with him a dozen leather cases stuffed to bursting with what he called his ‘scribbling books’. He was spilling over with ideas and excitement for his Analytical Engine.”

From “Ada Lovelace: The Computer Wizard of Victorian England” by Lucy Leadbridge

After reading that extract I thought back to my idea of supplying the children with an exercise book simply for them to jot ideas down in. They can sketch, make notes and ‘scribble’ without worrying about presentation or getting things wrong. Ideally they would use these books in all lessons across all subjects. I think I will begin in September by supplying all of Year 6 with a Scribbling Book that they can then keep with them as they move through Year 7 and into Year 8.
