Currnetly in our ICT room we have a trolley containing 20 laptops that pupils can take to use in other lessons. Currently each laptop is numbered as are the slots in the trolley. This means that when a child takes a laptop they have to return it to the correct slot – causing problems when they don’t. It also means that children squabble over what number laptop they have – “But 8 is my lucky number!”. To try and avoid these problems which cause delays in children taking out laptops which then disturbs a lesson in the ICT room I have decided to remove the numbers from the laptops and trolley and instead name the laptops. The slots will remain blank so that it does not matter in which slot a particular laptop is returned (as long as they are actually plugged in). The other night I asked for suggestions for names for the laptops on Twitter. Here are some of the names I am going to use – can you identify who the names all refer to?
I’m sure my ICT technician will enjoy having to fix Flowers or Pinkerton 🙂
